National Conference on “Health Economics & Quality Use of Medicines” - NGSMIPS

The Indian Council of Medical Research & Nitte (Deemed to be University) sponsored Two Day National Conference on “Health Economics & Quality Use of Medicines” was organized by the Department of Pharmacy Practice, NGSM Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Paneer, Deralakatte, Mangaluru on 1st & 2nd December 2017 at University Auditorium, Paneer Campus, Deralakatte, Mangaluru, Karnataka. The Conference received an overwhelming response. More than 214 students, research scholars and staff from Andhra Pradesh, Gujarat, Karnataka, Kerala, Maharashtra, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana States participated in the Two day National Conference.

The Conference was inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Honourable Vice-Chancellor of Nitte (Deemed to be University), Prof. (Dr.) P.S. Prakash, Dean, K.S. Hegde Medical Academy, and Major (Dr.) Shivakumar Hiremath, Medical Superintendent, Justice K.S. Hegde Charitable Hospital were the Guests of Honour. Prof. (Dr.) C.S. Shastry, Principal, NGSMIPS, welcomed the gathering and introduced Chief Guest and Guests of Honour. He also highlighted the importance the Conference. During the inauguration, the Conference Abstracts Book was released by the Chief Guest. Dr. Uday Venkat Mateti, Organising Secretary, delivered the vote of thanks. During the Conference, seven scientific sessions were conducted on the theme of “Health Economics & Quality Use of Medicines”. Dr. G. Parthasarathi, Dean, Global Development, JSS University, Mysuru as a Keynote Speaker. The resource persons of the conference: Dr. A. Ramakrishna, Deputy Drugs Controller (India), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Mumbai, Dr. Rajesh Ballal, Professor of General Surgery, KSHEMA, Mangaluru, Dr. Mahadev Rao, Professor of Pharmacy Practice, MCOPS, MAHE, Manipal, Dr. G.P. Mohanta, Professor, Annamalai University, Tamil Nadu, Dr. Revikumar K.G., Director, Kerala Institute of Drugs Studies, Trivandrum, Kerala, and Mr. Chris Noronha, Executive Director, Gateway2Health LLP, USA.




The Day 1 scientific sessions followed by Oral Presentations (6 minutes presentation and 2 minutes discussion) were conducted. The Day 2 scientific sessions followed by three sessions of e-Poster Presentations were conducted. At the end of the e-Poster Presentations, Feedback of the Conference from delegates and this was followed by the distribution of certificates to the delegates during the Valedictory Function.
