The 2nd Annual Day of Nitte University Centre for Science Education and Research (NUCSER) was held on Friday, 31st March 2017 at KSHEMA Auditorium. Shri Vishal Hegde, Prochancellor (Administration), Nitte University was the president of the function. Prof. M.B. The Annual day was the culmination of the three days extravaganza comprising cultural and literary activities that were held at the institute. The major attraction this year was the decorations by the students that adorned the walls of the institute. These decorations were created from waste materials such as newspapers, plastic cups, paper cups, cardboards, insulating materials, chips packets and so on under the concept of “WEALTH FROM WASTE”. Mr. Prithvisagar, of I M.Sc. welcomed the gathering and the coordinator of the centre Dr. Anirban Chakraborty read the annual report. In their addresses, the chief guest Prof. Puranik, and the guest of honor Dr. Karunasagar emphasized on the importance of research in daily life and cited examples of age-old traditional practices in rural India, which are based on scientific evidence and not on superstitious beliefs. In his Presidential address, Shri Vishal Hegde highlighted the uniqueness of NUCSER as being the only institute out of the 38 under Nitte University, which started off as a research centre and then added the teaching program under its ambit. He urged the students to take advantage of the opportunity of being taught by researchers and not by traditional teachers and praised the monumental development that has happened in this centre in such a short span of time. Ms. Charmi Ghetia proposed the vote of thanks. On this occasion, the first issue of the college magazine titled “ANNVESHAN” was released by the esteemed guests. The esteemed guests also gave prizes for the various competitions including Cultural, Sports, and Variety day to the winners. The formal function was followed by a cultural program put up by the students.
