Sports Meet 2016-17 - NSAMFGC, Bengaluru

Sports and athletics have been an integral part of Dr. NSAM First Grade College, Yelahanka, Bengaluru. Keeping up the tradition, this year too, the College organized its Annual Sports Meet with the same flamboyant spirit on 13th January, 2017. The Nitte playground was filled with great zeal, excitement and enthusiasm as the students competed each other in the spirit of sportsmanship. Mr. Rajanna, Physical Instructor, Nagarjuna First Grade College, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Mr. Rohit Punja, Coordinator NET, Mrs. Rajalakshmi, PU Principal and Dr. Meera Krishnappa, Degree Principal presided over the function.





The programme began with a melodious hymn rendered by Mrs. Swathi. (Faculty of Commerce). Principal, Dr. Meera Krishnappa, then formally extended a warm welcome to all. Mr. Rohit Punja, then addressed the students and asked them to be disciplined in order to reach their goals. He also emphasized the importance of sports in a student’s overall growth. He further applauded the College Principal, Dr. Meera Krishnappa and Mr. Ashok, Physical Instructor for having arranged everything so meticulously. The Chief Guest, Mr. Rajanna spoke about the importance of Sports in leading a healthy life and building a holistic personality.

The Torch Relay by the sportspersons of the college set the tone for the colourful programme. The oath was administered by the sports secretaries, Ms Seema and Mr Appaji Gowda of Final year B.com. Then the chief guest declared the sports meet open.

Up next was the rhythmic welcome dance- fusion presented by groups from different classes. The girls and boys in their colorful attire regaled one and all with their well co-ordinated moves and the final crescendo was a real delight. A demo by the Martial Arts by Bidyut Chanda of Final Year and a Taekwondo Demo by Pragathi of II Sem B.Com brought an end to the inaugural. The Sports events included a number of races such as 100 mtrs, 200 mtrs, 400 mtrs and 800 mtrs, 4×100mtr relay for boys and girls and discus throw, shot-put. The finale was the Final Cricket match between II years and Final Years..

The sports meet concluded with the vote of thanks proposed by Ramya of II year B.com.
