KSHEMA NITTE CPR campaign valedictory function and World Heart Day celebrations - KSHEMA

The Department of Anaesthesiology organized a Public Awareness Program, "KSHEMA NITTE CPR campaign valedictory function and world heart day celebrations " on 07-10-2016 at Nitte K S Hegde Management auditorium.

“KEEP AWAY HEART DISEASES WITH BALANCED DIET, STRESS FREE LIFE AND AVOIDING THE ADDICTIONS: N V HEGDE” :

Valedictory function of KSHEMA-Nitte CPR awareness campaign and World Heart Day celebrations was held at Nitte K S Hegde Management auditorium on October 7th 2016. In his presidential speech Shri Vinay Hegde, Chancellor of Nitte University, said “recently, the heart diseases are on increase due to stress, junk food and changed life style. Right now in India more people die out of heart diseases than cancer. Balanced diet, stress free life and avoiding the addictions like tobacco and alcohol will keep heart disease away”. Doctors from K S Hegde Medical Academy (KSHEMA) trained more than 5000 students (5244) of Nitte campus in CPR (Cardio pulmonary resuscitation - an emergency procedure to be performed in the event of sudden cardiac arrest to save life) over a month from September 3rd to October 4th, and this is likely to be world record. These students participated in CPR competition and bagged prizes. The audience were enthralled by the role play presented by the doctors highlighting the importance of learning CPR.

On this occasion, Dr K Subramanyam, Chief Cardiologist, K S Hegde Hospital, spoke on ‘prevention of cardiac disease’. Dr S Ramanand Shetty, Vice chancellor, Nitte University, was the chief guest. Dr Satheesh Kumar Bhandary, Dean, KSHEMA, welcomed the gathering and Dr Sripada G Mehandale, Co-ordinator KSHEMA- Nitte CPR campaign, proposed vote of thanks. Dr Niranjan Chiplunkar, Principal, NMAMIT, Dr Shankaran, Director, JKSHIM, Dr Prashanth, Principal, NRAMP, Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, Registrar, KSHEMA, Dr Veena B K, Principal, NMAMFC and Dr Gayathri Bhat, Dr Harsha H N of KSHEMA--Nitte CPR campaign, were present. Dr Sumalatha R Shetty was master of ceremony.
