In an initiative towards creating an environmental friendly campus and generating environmental consciousness among the staff and the students, the annual planting festival Van Mahotsav was celebrated by the Centre for Science Education and Research, Nitte University (NUCSER) on 9th August,2016 at the Paneer campus, Mangaluru. The chief guest, for the function was Dr. Smitha Hegde, an eminent plant biotechnologist from St. Aloysius College, Mangaluru. In her speech, she highlighted the significance and superiority of plants in nature and challenged the staff and students of the institute with a vision to leave behind a zero carbon footprint by planting and nurturing trees. On this occasion, saplings of various fruiting trees were planted in the campus. The students and the staff members participated in large numbers and made the celebration a grand success.
