AHA certified course on basic life support - ABSMIDS

Intern’s academic club of A.B.Shetty memorial institute of dental sciences, Resuscitation training cell and Department of Anaesthesiology, KSHEMA under Nitte University in association with Tech2People, Manipal, under the guidance of Prof. (Dr.) U.S.Krishna Nayak, Principal and Dean of ABSMIDS, organised AHA certified 3 days workshop on Basic Life support held from 21st to 23rd march 2016 at Thrimshath Digital Lecture Hall , 7th floor, A.B.Shetty memorial institute of dental sciences, Deralakatte, Mangalore.

The Program was inaugurated and welcome address was delivered by Prof. (Dr.) B. Rajendra Prasad, Director of PG studies and Head of Department, Dept. of Oral and Maxillofacial surgery. Dr. Sripada G Mehandale, chief coordinator, Professor, Department of Anaesthesiology, gave a brief introduction regarding the importance of AHA certified BLS Program to the participants. The vote of thanks was proposed by Dr.Subhas Babu., Prof. & HOD, Dept. of Oral Medicine and Radiology. The BLS course was headed by Dr.Sripada G Mehandale, chief co-ordinator, Resuscitation training cell Nitte University. The team included expert trainers from various medical institutions. Dr. Gayathri Bhat from KSHEMA, Dr. Jesni Joseph Manissheri from KMC, Dr. Sayed from Yenepoya medical college, Ms Akhila from Manipal University, and Mr. Krishna Kumar, Mr. Shinjo, Mr. Ebrahim, Mr. Ajesh(Coordinator), Mr.Reevan(Co-ordinator) from Tech2People.

The BLS workshop was attended by 93 interns and 9 staff members of ABSMIDS and 3 Interns from KSHEMA. The participants underwent an intensive training Program which comprised of lectures from certified Trainers, Video presentations , hands on CPR on Mannequins, followed by theory and practical exams.



The program was co-ordinated by Dr.Subhas Babu, Head of intern’s academic club and Dr.Gopinath Thilak P.S from Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
