Anaemia Screening and Prevention of Iron Deficiency Anaemia- NUINS

Department of Child Health Nursing, NUINS organized Anaemia Screening and Prevention of Iron Deficiency Anaemia” on 5 th December 2015 at Balasamrakshana Kendra, Kuthar Padav. The anaemia screening was held from 02:30-04:30 pm at Balasamrakshana Kendra. A total number of 70 children between 5-20 years of age were screened by the faculties and students of NUINS. Out of 70 participants, 47 were identified as anaemic i.e. (Hemoglobin level less than 12 gm/dl). After the screening Role Play followed by Health Talk in Kannada on – prevention of Iron Deficiency Anaemia was given. To improve the Hemoglobin level in those children who were identified with anaemia, it was decided to provide enriched ragi flour. The seventeen children with hemoglobin level less than 8gm/dl are referred to Justice K S Hegde Hospital for further management.
