AICTE Vigilance awareness program - NGSMIPS

Lectures by the faculty and panel discussions were held for students at N.G.S.M. Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Paneer, Deralakatte, Mangalore, on 31-10-2015 to create awareness among the youth about ‘Preventive Vigilance and importance of moral values and strong character’ in response to the directives of the AICTE. The Vice Principal Dr. R.Narayana Charyulu and the members of the faculty held panel discussions with the students. Dr. Charyulu, in his introductory remark, stressed the need to include character education in the syllabus. He said that it is unfortunate that modern education places more emphasis on competence than character. However, competence and character are not mutually exclusive. He also said that ‘competence in basic skills, feelings of self-worth, and moral development should be priorities in schools and colleges’. Students volunteered with series of presentations on the above theme. The video containing the message from the Secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development - Government of India, Chairman and Vice Chairman of AICTE was played. The program was a refresher and was well received by the students.
