The Department of Community Medicine organized a Public Awareness Program, " Awareness programme on Common psychiatric disorders" on 22-09-2015 at Sasihitlu Rural Health Centre.
The programme was inaugurated by Mr.Nagesh Bangera, President Yuvaka Mandala old student association Sasihitlu. Dr. Shrinivas Bhat U, Professor of Department of Psychiatry K S Hegde Hospital Deralakatte, who explained briefly about the prevention and treatment of Psychiatric disorders.
Dr. Indushekar explained about the social stigma associated with psychiatric disorders. The people were enlightened about the importance of regular medications and proper preventive measures. The ultimate goal of the programme was to provide information about common psychiatric illness - prevention and treatment to the underserved communities in a simpler form. After the awareness programme Dr.Shrinivas Bhat consulted the psychiatric patients at RHC sasihitlu. 35 village people and members of Yuvaka Mandala This programme was conducted under the guidance and supervision of Dr. Indushekhar Shetty, Dr. Swathi, Dr. Soujanya B S,Mr Santhosh N P, Mr. Dilip Karkera assisted the programme.
