Workshop on "Conscious Sedation (NOIS)" - ABSMIDS

Workshop on "Conscious Sedation (NOIS)" organized by Department of Pedodontics and Preventive Dentistry, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences in collaboration with Department of Anesthesiology, K.S. Hegde Medical Hospital was a great success. The workshop was held from 9 th – 12 th March, 2015 at Nitte University, Mangalore. The workshop was inaugurated by Prof. (Dr) Sripapada G. Mehandale and Prof. (Dr) Gayathri Bhat, Department of Anesthesiology followed by Introduction given by Prof. (Dr) Amitha M. Hegde, Head of the Department of Pedodontics, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences. Four day workshop witnessed Series of lectures and discussion regarding various aspects on conscious sedation in pediatric dentistry including hands on demonstrations on Basic life support skills and nitrous oxide inhalational sedation. The core team consisted of Pediatric Dentists headed by Prof (Dr) Amitha M. Hedge, Past president ISPPD, Anesthesiologists headed by Prof (Dr). Anand Bangera (H.O.D.) and Prof (Dr). Raveendra U.S., and various other eminent consultants from Department of Anesthesiology including Prof (Dr) Sripada G Mehandale, Prof (Dr) Gayathri Bhat, Prof (Dr) Sumalatha Shetty, Dr. Sapana Joshi, Dr. Soumya J. S, Dr. Nikhil M.P and Dr. Murali Krishna V. The participation of staff and post graduate students were over whelming and overall the purpose for holding this workshop was served. Prof (Dr) Amitha M.Hegde, the chief Organizer of this workshop alongwith Prof (Dr) Raveendra U.S. admitted that they will be releasing a Special issue of Nitte Journal inclusive of all topics discussed in the workshop and the future plan to release a text book of the same for the betterment and safe sedation practice in Pediatric dentistry.
