"Mahamasthakabisheka programme" - Kshema

The Department of Community Medicine organized a Public Awareness Program, "Mahamasthakabisheka programme" from 21-01-2015 to 31-01-2015 at Karkala. K.S Hegde Medical Academy, through the Dept. of Community Medicine provided Medical aid to the pilgrims who attended the festival of Mahamasthakabhisheka in Karkala from 21-1-2015 to 31-1-2015. Each day interns and post graduates from the Dept. of Community Medicine were posted at the base camp near the Mahamasthakabhisheka site and interns were also posted in the Taluk hospital, Karkala. Each day a faculty member from the Dept. of Community Medicine used to supervise the work of interns and the post graduates. At the base camp there was also a medical officer posted from the nearby primary health centres.



About 593 patients attended the clinic near the base camp during this period of 10 days. The patients came with complaints of cough, cold, fever, stomach ache, weakness, loose stools, gastritis, musculoskeletal pain, headache, ear ache, sore throat etc. Patients requiring admission were referred to Gajria Hospital, Karkala.
