BEACONS 2015 - NICO

Mangaluru 15, Feb 2015: Dance with dhamaka… fun with pen… cameras with dreams… and at the end of it, St Aloysius Degree College won Nitte University’s Beacons Trophy for the second successive year.




Beacons– 2015, an inter-college fest of media was conducted by Nitte University’s Department of Mass Communication and Journalism that concluded here yesterday. Besides St Aloysius, students from all the leading first grade colleges from Dakshina Kannada and Kerala including St. Agnes College, Canara College, Alva’s College and Indus College participated in the event.







Dr. Nitin Acharya well known singer, musician and alumni, A.B. Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences inaugurated the festival here on February 12, 2015. Dr.Acharya called upon students to harness the energy within them to unleash their true potential. “To achieve success in your lives, work on your potentials and develop a taste for other aspects,” Nitin said. Dr. M.S. Moodithaya, Registrar, Nitte University, emphasized that “Success is a product of idea, implementation and the impact.

Students may have an idea but if the idea is not implemented properly we cannot get the impact.” “Countries like US, Korea, organizations like Microsoft, and persons such as Mahatma Gandhi and Bill Gates did not stop at ideas only. They implemented very well and generated impact also” he added. Declaring the festival open, Prof Rakesh Katarey, Head, Department of Mass Communication and Journalism, Nitte University, said, “Events at Beacons were a symbiosis of fun and learning bringing academics and entertainment on one platform.” In the evening Chali Polilu film director, Veerendra Shetty distributed the prizes to the winners at various competitions. Faculty coordinator of Beacons 2015, Ms.Deekshitha R, Ms. Khushbu Mishra, President, Student Council were also present at the event.
