The Principal, Dr. C S Shastry welcomed Dr. P.K. Kulkarni and he explained in his introductory speech the achievement of speaker in the field of pharmaceutics to faculty members, Research Scholars, PG students and UG students gathered.
The speaker introduced the topic “Drug Discovery: Concept to realization” to the audience by starting with basics from synthesizing a new molecules to its commercialization in Market for human use and their regulatory requirement for approval in Indian market. The different types of formulations developed and commercialized in India like New drug application and Generic drug application were discussed. The second part of the talk included the regulatory aspects of current scenario of Indian Health Authority with respect to new drugs and formulations. The critical area of current research in Pharmaceutical field to make Innovation and develop new drugs and formulations were explained in detail.
He suggested that there should be an interdisciplinary approach towards drug development. He created awareness on the gap that exists between the academics and the present scenario in the pharmaceutical industry. Upon Principals request he gave an overview on the procedures that were involved in patenting of research work. Dr. C.S.Shastry, principal of the institution presented a memento to Dr.P.K.Kulkarni as a token of appreciation. Dr. Narayan Charylu, Vice Principal of the institution proposed the vote of thanks for sharing his experience and knowledge with students and staff members of the institution.
