Training program on best practices in phlebotomy - KS Hegde Hospital

Departments of laboratory medicine – Pathology, Biochemistry and Microbiology with Nursing services organized a training program on best practices in phlebotomy at the seminar room, II floor in the hospital premises. Mr. Vaseem Pasha from Becton & Dickinson was the resource person for the program. The training was held in 3 sessions for 2 hours from 24th morning to 25th morning. For every session, after the theory, the participants had the opportunity to practice in the dummy arm provided with the vacuitaniers. Dr. Chandrika Rao, Blood Bank Officer coordinated the program. Dr. Chandrika Rao and Dr. Karuna Rameshkumar, Medical Superintendent and Professor of Pathology administered the pre and post test for the program to assess its efficacy. The difference between the two during evaluation reinforced the need for such a program. The feedback from the participants also reinforced the need. The program ended with thanks to the resource person from both lab services and nursing services at the last session. All participants will be given a certificate for the program by Becton & Dickinson after two weeks.
