K S Hegde Hospital under Nitte educational institutions organized a walkathon to mark World Heart Day on Sunday September 29.

The walkathon commenced from Pumpwell circle and culminated at IMA hall near Hampankatta. Health minister U T Khadar flagged off the walkathon. He participated in the walkathon along with MCC commissioner Ajith Kumar, Nitte dean Dr Shantharam Shetty. Speaking to media persons, minister Khadar stressed on importance of maintaining a healthy heart by jogging daily. He said through regular exercise, one can get rid of heart ailments. Khadar also assured grant of facilities for heart checkup once a year at the primary health center for those above three years of age. Hundreds of people including students and general public participated in the walkathon.
